Atmospheric images of Lanjaron on a rainy day
Some of the best images are sometimes those found on dull, ordinary days. From my experience the picture postcard shots are never the ones to live too long in the memory. These photos were taken by my partner, Kiesten this morning as the mists cleared after 3 days of rain. You can see more of her landscape and wildlife photography by visiting her blog.
Why?
Mid-life crisis? I had mine at 45, so that must mean I’m going to reach 90! Yes, at 45, I walked out of the well-paid Financial Directors role and turned to that great passion of mine, the mountains. I had been training as a mountain guide on a part time basis since 1983 so it [...]
Aerial photo of Lanjaron, Alpujarras from 20,000ft
Took this shot this morning from 20,000ft as our plane passed over Lanjaron and the Alpujarras. Conditions were very clear. The town can be seen, together with the water bottling plant and the wind turbines towards the Valle de Lecrin. The motorway from Granada to Motril can be seen running down the left hand side.

Almeria deserts, coastlines and frolics on the beach
Just had a good 2 day whirlwind trip taking in the sights and sounds of the Tabernas desert badlands and the beautiful coastline of the Cabo de Gata in Almeria. Desierto de Tabernas – wonderful as always. A must for anybody who enjoys walking in dramatic scenery. More info at Desert Walking Tours Cabo de Gata [...]
Sights and Sounds of Carnival in Lanjaron June 2009
Spain, especially the spa town of Lanjaron in the Alpujarras, is a great place to visit in June each year. The town is alive with the sights and sounds of fiesta. The famous Water Run (Carrera de Agua) on the night of the longest day is a totally unique experience too, re-enacting the worlds biggest [...]

Skiing mid June in Spain with mad dogs
Yes it’s true. We had a good day’s skiing yesterday in the Sierra Nevada with our dogs, Bruno (leonberger) and Khumbu (siberian husky). We parked at the Hoya de la Mora above the ski town of Pradollano and made the 45 minute traverse on a good road and track towards the middle ski station area [...]
Images of Lanjaron in the Alpujarras
A nice collection of images of the town and countryside shot and produced by my friend, Pepe (Badaje). He has an interesting website at http://badaje.wordpress.com with more images, videos and comment about the town of Lanjaron. You need to speak or understand some spanish though!
