Aerial photo of Lanjaron, Alpujarras from 20,000ft
Took this shot this morning from 20,000ft as our plane passed over Lanjaron and the Alpujarras. Conditions were very clear. The town can be seen, together with the water bottling plant and the wind turbines towards the Valle de Lecrin. The motorway from Granada to Motril can be seen running down the left hand side.

Images of Lanjaron in the Alpujarras
A nice collection of images of the town and countryside shot and produced by my friend, Pepe (Badaje). He has an interesting website at http://badaje.wordpress.com with more images, videos and comment about the town of Lanjaron. You need to speak or understand some spanish though!

Asian Tiger Mosquitos (Aedes Albopictus) all over the place
The invasive mosquito Aedes Albopictus was detected for the first time in Spain, in Sant Cugat del Vallès, a city in the north-east of the country, during August 2004. A male and one larva were collected in the backyard of a house and in a tree hole, respectively. Dense populations of adults and larvae were [...]
The Acequia
An acequia is a community operated waterway and most were established more than 200 years ago. The Arabs brought the technology to Spain during their occupation.
The acequia is how we irrigate our land and is a source of great entertainment for our dogs. Our water comes from the snows in the Sierra Nevada and is [...]
Bird watching in the wetlands of Padul, Andalucia
Went on a half day birdwatch trip with birdwatchalpujarras.com run by Ian and Steve. They are a fairly new company that have set up their birdwatching tours base in our spa town of Lanjaron.
We met at 10am outside a bar in Lanjaron, there were 9 of us in total in 2 4×4 vehicles. We drove [...]
