A bit of Spanish sunshine, a nice catch-up and a leisurely stroll followed by a cold beer. Not!
I'm going to let my daughter, Emma, tell the tale from yesterdays hike in a rough area of the back country
🇪🇸 Come to España, they said. It'll be relaxing, they said! 🤣🥾
Came over to see Dad, thinking we'd enjoy a bit of Spanish sunshine, a nice catch-up, perhaps a leisurely stroll followed by a cold beer.
Absolutely bloody not! 😂
Dad had other ideas. Apparently, we were going to be his unsuspecting guinea pigs for one of his famous "just testing a route to see if it's suitable for clients" adventures.
The first half? Lovely! Beautiful scenery, good paths, everyone happy. We were even foolish enough to think he knew what he was doing.
The second half? Absolutely not! 🤣
Off-path we went, straight into what can only be described as Spain's entire collection of vicious, prickly vegetation. Thick gorse, spiky bushes, and several unidentified plants that seemed personally offended by our presence. 🌵
Just when we thought the worst was over, Dad casually introduced us to the grand finale… a mammoth 2.5km uphill slog! Because apparently, being shredded by half the Spanish countryside wasn't quite enough.
And the most humiliating part of the whole experience? We got absolutely BEASTED by a 71 year-old! 🤣💪
There we were, supposedly fit and experienced outdoor instructors, getting dragged around the Spanish mountains by a pensioner who clearly hasn't received the memo about slowing down with age! 😂
By the end, we'd been scratched, stabbed, exhausted and were seriously questioning our family loyalty.
So, Dad, in answer to your question about whether the route is suitable for clients…
That's a big fat NO from all of us! 🤣
Lovely to see you though, Dad. Next time we're choosing the route. Preferably one that ends at a bar, doesn't require a tetanus jab, and doesn't involve being publicly humiliated by someone old enough to get a bus pass! 🍻🇪🇸
