Good morning all! A clear day here and you can see the sea from 30 km away. Too hazy to see Morocco, will have to wait for the colder air of autumn.

Whilst hiking on the "Ruta Medieval" through the Alpujarras today I came across this little magical section of forest with a waterfall illuminated through a gap in the tree foliage. The colour is due to the rich iron content in the water. Just stunning.

Some images taken today from inside the Alhambra Palace grounds in Granada.

Some street scenes from Granada today with a hiking group having a rest day off from the mountains. I'd forgotten how vibrant and photogenic the city is. It's frantic one moment yet utterly peaceful and beautiful the next. And, of course, always overlooked by the magnificent Alhambra Palace.

Morning all. An early morning dog walk for me because today, for one day only, I am heading out of my comfort zone into the big city (Granada).
This a photo of my town, Lanjarón.

Well our little swimming pool to greenhouse conversion seems to be starting to pay off. The tomato plants are almost my height (1.8m) and we are waiting patiently for them to ripen. The cucumbers are ready to eat and delicious, as are the lettuce. Red and green peppers a bit behind but starting.

Really terrifying stuff! In the Silvretta group in the municipality of Galtür (Austria) there was a big landslide on Sunday afternoon. In the area of the northwest flank of the southern Fluchthorn. Rocks thundered with full force over the Hochmoor Breites Wasser towards the Jamtalhütte.

Sunset last night over the spa town of Lanjarón

Local early walk today for me and the doggies.

"A credible threat to (and from) commercial social network silos/1" A thought provoking (and long) read about the proposed upcoming integration of Meta's P92/Barcelona into the Fediverse By @oblomov
I'm investigating the setting up of a small community for my local hiking group. A place we can share photos, arrange meets, discuss trips etc. Anybody got any suggestions or recommendations of what platform on the might suit?
I wrote a blog about our hike yesterday.
"Underestimating difficulties on the Buitreras". Describes a very tough and tiring but ultimately exciting and enjoyable romp around Las Buitreras del Durcal.
Hiking down the Rambla de Durcal on the western side of the Spain's Sierra Nevada range.

A few photos from yesterday's very tough and tiring but ultimately exciting and enjoyable romp around Las Buitreras del Durcal. Amazing, spectacular scenery and just 20 minutes drive from home. N.B This is a tough hike and only suitable for those with a head for heights that have confident and secure footwork.

From yesterday mornings ascent of the wonderful Alto del Calabozo 1651m, Sierra de Huetor, Granada

The deserted forest

Some cracking views of Mulhacen 3482, highest summit in mainland Spain, surrounded by building cloud. 10 minutes after we took this the whole range was covered in thick gray cloud

Early start on a new hill today. Alto Calabozo 1651m. Small in stature but bags of character. No trails, just a few cairns, goat tracks and bushwhacking to negotiate. It's obvious not many come here. The reward is the view south to the Sierra Nevada.

@khusky and I topping out this morning on a rather unusual and relatively unknown summit.

Sights you love to see. Arrival of rain and thunderstorms
