A small, private & friendly, hiking community exploring trails in the Alpujarras, Sierra Nevada and Andalucia

Some time ago, during the onset of the Covid crisis in 2020, we decided to form a small local walking group. The objective was simple. With an organised series of weekly walks we would be forced to get out and do a major hike each week. This would improve our mental and physical health accordingly and, with partial lock downs in mind, would keep us in touch with other human beings outside of supermarkets. We named the group "Alpujarra Nomads".

Although this kicked off in the autumn of 2020 it wasn't until 2021 that the group got really established and we started having a regular amount of members. The group officially began on 14th March 2021, during the Covid lockdown, when a few friends ascended the Silleta de Padul. Since then we have held regular Tuesday walks and other activities throughout the year.

We are a walking group that also likes to be very social. That really means … we also like the "afters" in the bar! It has been said in jest that we started as a "walking group that likes a beer that's turned into a drinking group that likes a walk". The truth is that the mountains, nature and the beautiful country we live in always remains at the heart of this group.
